[edit] Description
aMule is an application of files exchange under the network type P2P (peer to peer. Essentially, it is based in the utility eMule and thanks to its license (GPL/GNU) which enables the free modification of the source code there are many other variants of aMule.
Just like other versions of the original eMule, aMule uses a system of credits and score to categorize the users and provide them access to the best positions in the waiting queues as well as higher download speed.
This exchange program makes use of the Kademlia network (network protocol without the client – server structure) which favors the data traffic avoiding the phenomenon known as “bottleneck”. Moreover, it is important to highlight that it supports the eD2k network.
The general aesthetics do no present great differences from the original project it is derived from (eMule), in fact, its interface presents (by default) less icons in the top menu. Later, the user has the option to add more buttons or change the existent ones. A slight difference with the original program is the way in which the options are grouped in the configuration menu.
aMule offers a lot of advantages, mostly to the users who need a flexible program with abilities to adapt to multiple operating environments and platforms.
[edit] History
aMule is created by a team of developers who wanted a client similar to [EMule]] which could be used in any platform. This happened in September 2003.
Given that it is an application distributed under the license GNU/GPL the feedback it produces is much bigger, not only about the comments and suggestions, but also about modifications specifically of the source code itself. The community of collaborators, translators, debuggers and developers of aMule make an important difference when creating and improving a program.
The first version released of aMule (in August 2003) made changes in the graphic aspect and a more agile management of the ED2K links.
As time passes by there are more users who day after day use this download software.
