Windows Messenger Installation

The first process we are going to develop will be the application installation, so you need an executable file you should have previously downloaded. Double click on it, and then, in the following screen you can see the different contents regarding the Messenger installation process.

The first option enables you to set Yahoo! Official site as your web browser home page, and to make it the default search engine for all the Web content you are interested in.

The second option will take you to the installation process following screen.

The first instruction will enable you to see the license contract with the legal conditions and terms about its working from any computer.

The second icon refers to the Messenger privacy policy, which should be observed by any application user.

Once you have finished reading the previous instructions and if you agree with them, you should select the third option that says: “Yes, I agree with the terms and conditions of the Policy and License Contract”.

Lastly, you go to the fourth option and click on “Next”.

Then, you are going to find a brief screen with the components to install and how long the Messenger installation will last.

The first icon mainly refers to all the components you can install with the “Messenger” application, since it allows the incorporation of different tools related to the application.

The second image will show you how long the program installation will last.

Lastly, the third option will take you to installation process in itself.

1) Installation progress bar.

2) In case there is a problem, you can click on the “Cancel” option, which will interrupt the Messenger and its components installation.

Once the progress bar is complete, you will have successfully installed Messenger in your computer hard disc where you can see a screen that will appear automatically.

If you click on the first option, the Messenger will start automatically.

If you press on the “Finish” button, this application installation will be complete.

Windows Messenger Working

Once you have completed the installation process, you can run it directly from the desktop and fill in your user’s name and password so that you can log in.

Once the Messenger has been started for the first time, you will be able to export your Outlook and other applications contact list.

In this case you should click on the following option to select and set your contacts in the groups you are going to specify later.

Once you have finished the previous proceeding, you can see a screen that will tell you that the process has been completed or whether there has been some inconvenient.

This will complete the Messenger contacts configuration.

In the first box you will be able to modify your account and messeges security parameters, or even to complete your contact information so that you can share it with other users.

In the second box, you can resume the previous steps and complete them.

Then, you can gain access to the application main interface where you can see its multiple options and possibilities to start instant conversations.

In the first option you can gain access to the Messenger main options, manage the contacts, perform different actions that refer mainly to the options that were established by default to start an instant messaging session.

The second box enables you to see your default user’s name. At the same time it can be modified including any Nickname you want, a personal picture or even to start a voice conversation to a phone device or to a connected computer.

The third image enables you to add relevant information about your user, which can be seen with your contact name and so on.

In the fourth box you can see all your stored contacts and their account status, set different groups and establish different actions over them.

The fifth option shows a direct access that can be used to add new contacts and to gain access to the extra modalities by the service provider and by third-party applications.

Lastly, in the sixth option you can access the service provider search engine to get new contents.

In order to begin an instant text conversation, you just have to double click on the contact you see online at that moment, where you can see a window like the following one:

The contact information can be seen in the upper window, which refers to the first icon, where the contact’s name can be seen as well as the additional information that user has added.

The conversation is developed in the second box where you can see the messages that were typed by both parties.

In the third box, you can gain access to different components that were mainly developed to complement the messages you write in such a way that it enables you to use the default emoticons as well as those you have additionally installed. Besides, you can gain access to an option system with fonts and different letter formats as well as to the alerts you can use.

As one of the main features that this instant messaging provider offers, we can mention its capacity to start any format file transference, but they cannot exceed 2GB.

Then, we are going to explain how to send them in the easiest way.

Firstly, we should select the contact that is online at the same moment you are also connected.

You should go to “Actions” option, and click on it.

In the pop-up window, you should press on the “send a file” option

A small browser will appear, where you should select the location of the file you want to send.

In the first box you can see the file. Select it.

You click on the box that appears in the second option and the transference process will start.

Webcam function

In order to start a conversation through your Webcam, which you should have previously connected and installed to your computer, you have to go to the “Actions” option.

Select the Webcam option and a box where you have to choose the device that is connected to your computer will appear. Select the “Broadcast” option and this will end up the installation of the function that corresponds to the video conference.

Start a voice chat

Messenger enables you to start a voice chat with the contacts that are online and that have the necessary hardware to implement it. In order to start that conversation alternative, you just have to follow a small procedure that consists on:

1- Click on the contact you want, and select the “Start a voice communication” option. A pop-up window will automatically appear with the “Invite a friend to a voice conversation” option.

2- Then, you have to select the “Add” button, which will check the compatibility between both terminals.

3- Once you have filled in these fields, you can start chatting by pressing the Invite button, and a window called “Voice Communication” will automatically pop up.

Change font and writing style

You just have to select the “Messenger” option, go to “Preferences” phrase where you are going to see the following box.

Select “Appearance” and then “Change fonts and colors”.

Select the parameters that you want and you would have finished setting your writing visual aspects of your messages.
