7-Zip is a software developed for compressing files from Windows operating system environment. It is designed bearing in mind the substantial improvements in data compression, since it has 7z format, established in the context of program creation.
The main idea of 7-Zip is to offer a superior compression algorithm, more stable, secure and powerful, not only with 7z but also with other formats already known, such as ZIP. As a result, the application has won an important place among users, leaving aside their preferences on similar applications.
7-Zip is an open code program, which means that its characteristics can be used in different projects, provided that the license agreements are respected. This characteristic becomes improvements done within the project to be finally applied to other software developments, some of them already known and others really incipient. In this sense, it is worth mentioning that 7-Zip can handle other formats already known, which makes it an excellent alternative opposite to all the possibilities that the market offers.
From the user point of view, 7-Zip has a simple graphic interface, making all important options to seem visible in order to achieve a fast and efficient handling. Most of 7-Zip architecture is based on 7z format, which is a bating of all what is known nowadays. Its idea is to offer a powerful algorithm, mainly for texts, and to improve the security benefits, on which other software have faults. For this last purpose an AES of 256-bit encrypting system has been incorporated, which is the strength is really approved.
Also, this format has the property of handling files of great size, which has a great use at present, due to the geometric growing of computer capacity. To be precise, the 7z format can handle a file which size is up to 16,000 millions of gigabytes, being a really important figure.
Following this idea, the format can take fully advantage of the current technological possibilities, so that it is introduced a software for improving the performance of multiple nucleolus processors when compressing or decompressing files. Anyway, its architecture does not need big structures to function, so it is a great relief for those who have old computers.
It is worth mentioning that 7z is not a Windows exclusive format, but it can be applied to other operating systems (such as Linux and MAC), through programs which works under those platforms.
