Ares Installation and Use Manual.

Ares installation program makes the process to be really simple to run. You will see first the following screen:

It is the utility License contract, where there are specific guidelines for using Ares, as well as the user responsibility. You can only continue with the installation agreeing it, clicking “I Agree” (1).

The second screen shows components to be installed.

Apart from base application (i.e. Ares), the installation process offers the users the chance of setting a shortcut of the program on Windows Desktop. Put a tick on the corresponding verification box (1).

Third window shows the directory where the utility will be installed. In case the user is not satisfied, he or she can change the path writing it on the right bar, or clicking in “Browse” (1) button and selecting the directory you prefer.

In order to finish the installation process click “Install” (2).

When everything has finished, you will see the following screen:

progress bar will be completed, showing that all tasks has been concreted. To finish you should click “Close”, and then you can start using Ares (you do not need to re-start the computer).

[edit] How to use Ares:

Ares is an extremely easy to use program due to its control simplicity and to the fact that it integrates various functions in the same interface, so it is not necessary to resort to a different application to perform any task.

Firstly, its interface is split in several areas, thus gaining access to each task is much easier. The access to these areas is performed through buttons that are showed in the utility interface: when one of them is selected, it is highlighted.

The first button corresponds to “Internet“. In this area of the program you can surf all the web sites and look up any available service. However, it is very important that Ares could have an integrated browser since in this way you can access to BitTorrent download sites easier, as well as to online radios that broadcast using Shoutcast services.

Then you can find Ares Library. With this utility you can catalogue the files you download to the computer manually (in case you are not satisfied with the way the program handles them). In that way, you can also add new local elements, with the objective that other people could also access them.

Besides, it is divided according to class, depending on the type of files it has: music, videos, documents, software resources, images and miscellaneous, but you can also see them in the same window. In general, within each category there are more organization options, since it even offers you the possibility to use an in-built search engine to go directly to the file you need.

The "Player" window displays the multimedia contents downloaded to the computer, as well as the downloaded partial results. Even though each person uses their favourite player, in this case it is a monitoring tool with which you can check whether the downloaded videos are exactly what you were looking for.

It is worth mentioning that, no matter whether the user has the player window active or not, it is always possible to control this task since Ares buttons are in the lower part of the utility interface. In this way, it is also possible to gain access to the commands to control the reproduction list, the online radios, and the output volume of the utility.

With the “Search” button, you can gain access to Ares heart, since it is there that users’ network is tracked to find the files you want. For that you have to use Ares search engine, filling in the adequate box with a key word, and selecting the corresponding options:

With All, it does not differentiate the files type that make up the results.

If Audio is chosen, files whose extension corresponds to sound formats (MP3, WAV, WMA, etc) will be shown.

Video will look for only movies and similar formats (AVI, DivX, Xvid, etc.).

If you are looking for pictures (JPG, GIF, BMP and other similar formats), you have to select Image.

After choosing Documentsas your search option, only results corresponding to PDF, DOC and similar formats will be displayed.

When users want to find computer programs, Software should be selected.

If you select Other”, you will be able to find those files that cannot be catalogued within the other categories (for example, ZIP and RAR compressed folders).

In order to begin with the downloads, you just have to double click on the corresponding search result.

"Download" is other of Ares neuralgic areas, since it is there that you can see the files you are downloading to the PC, but in the lower part users can know with whom they are sharing their files. The fields and the information are very complete, since apart from the name, users can know the type of file, which are the download source, whether data upload/download is being performed, the completion percentage, the transference speed and the remaining time.

All this information is organized in lines, so that you can consult it easily and quickly, since just with a quick glance you can know the complete download status performed in the computer, as well as other users’ demands about the files there are to share in the local computer. Besides, you can cancel a download, remove the completed downloads from the list, open the incomplete downloads to know whether they are the adequate ones), and even access to the download directory folder.

As its name suggests, the "Chat" area is designed in such a way that users can join different channels and keep conversations among them in real time. Each channel has its own topics and a particular number of users. Joining a channel is not compulsory, but it is a good way to know the latest updates and solutions to the different problems you can find, since the community is always well-informed.

Ares also has an advanced "Control Panel" that enables you to control the different basic functions, such as the utility language or the skin you want to use. However, there is also access to advanced attributes: the simultaneous download limit, the reserved bandwidth, the number of users that can be connected to the local computer, and many other things.
